Made one strand at a time
Everything holding them together is the serious part. Glazed porcelain, semi precious stone, 14k gold filled findings, knots between the beads. The same construction a jeweler would use on a piece meant to be worn for years rather than a season.
That is the whole idea. A necklace can make you laugh and still be built properly. Those two things usually get sold separately, and they should not be.
The making
A strand takes the better part of a day, and most of that day never shows up in a photograph.
The edition
Not 153 copies of one necklace. 153 different ones, strung separately, numbered as they are finished, and released in lots. Lot 01 was 40 pieces and it is gone.

Porcelain fish end to end, spaced with stone rounds. The loudest thing we make, and the one strangers stop you about.

You pick the palette, the length, the clasp, and the crystal if you want a charm. If you are trying to carry someone around, dog included, say so and the colors can follow from that. About two weeks from the day the details are settled, and it takes its own number in the edition.
Numbered, about 2 weeks

A carved crystal fish on a gold carabiner, hung from a stone strand. Eight stones are in rotation and each one carries its own meaning. The strand arrives with its fish already chosen, and a card that tells you what the stone stands for.

The charms
Charm strands are finished with the stone that suited them, which means the fish is chosen before the piece ever goes up. That is what an edition of 153 with no repeats actually means in practice. If you have your heart set on a particular stone, that is what a made to order strand is for.
The drawings show which stones are in rotation, not the exact piece you will get. Real stone varies from one to the next, which is most of the reason to want it. The turquoise is synthetic and we call it that, because you should not have to wonder. The other seven are natural. Meanings are the ones these stones have carried for a long time, offered as folklore rather than as a promise.
How many there are
The edition is 153 pieces. They go out in lots rather than all at once, because a lot is as many as can be strung properly at a time and rushing that is how a necklace ends up feeling like a souvenir. Lot 01 was 40 pieces and it sold out. When the last of the 153 is claimed, the edition closes. There is no lot after the last one.
40 claimed · 113 remaining · edition of 153
Every piece is marked with its place in the edition, 1 through 153, and that number is yours alone.
The card that comes with it is signed, not printed. It takes a second and it means the thing came from a person.
No colorway is strung twice and the edition does not reopen. Lot 02 is next, and there are only so many lots left.
Our story
His name is Fisher.
Nobody calls him that.
He is Fish. He is the baby of the family in the way that only a dog manages, which is to say completely, and without anybody having voted on it.
You cannot take a dog everywhere. That is the whole problem this started with. His person wanted something to wear on the days he had to stay home, something with a little of him in it, and nothing on any shelf was close. So she made one for herself. Then people started asking where she got it.
That is the entire origin. One dog, and the ordinary want to keep him nearby.
It is also the reason the parts nobody photographs get taken seriously here. Something you wear because it means something gets worn constantly, and constant wear is hard on a necklace. So the porcelain is fired to hold its glaze, the stone is real, the findings are gold filled rather than plated, and there are knots between the beads. Sentiment is why it exists. Construction is why it survives.
If you have someone of your own to carry around, dog very much included, that is what the made to order strands are for.

Lot 02
Lot 01 is gone. 113 pieces are left in the edition, every one of them different, and once a strand is claimed there is not another like it anywhere.
The list gets the link a full day before anything is posted publicly. That day is usually the difference between getting the one you wanted and reading the words sold out.
